Though he rolled his eyes and sighed at the quip, Shaun was actually getting concerned at this point. He was fairly certain that things like this just didn't happen--either you were an avian or you weren't, and he'd certainly never heard of anyone becoming one spontaneously. Granted, he wasn't one hundred percent sure that his guess was correct, but a look at Desmond's back would answer that one way or another. "Just be grateful I'm not asking you to bend over and cough. You can have the water in a moment, but--just don't move for a second, alright?"
The more he hesitated, the more Desmond was likely to freak out, he thought, it would be better if he treated it like ripping off a plaster, so he just reached without warning, pulling the hem of Desmond's shirt up and holding it aloft so that he could see underneath.
